Why Do Dogs Tilt Their Heads?

Every dog owner knows the look. But why do they do it?

The Hearing Theory

Dogs have sensitive hearing but less precise sound localization. Tilting adjusts their ear flaps — like a manual antenna.

The Vision Theory

Dogs with longer muzzles tilt more. The muzzle blocks their visual field, and the head tilt lets them see your entire face — especially your mouth for reading emotions.
